Christian Federico Von Wernich (born May 27, 1938 in San Isidro, Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine priest of the Roman Catholic Church who served as chaplain of the Police Buenos Aires Province during the National Reorganization Process. Arrested in 2003 for his involvement in crimes against humanity in secret detention centers Basque Since, Coti Martinez and Pozo de Quilmes, was sentenced on October 9, 2007 to life imprisonment for those charges.
Von Wernich has denied the charges and maintained that although he visited detention centers he was committed there was no violation of human rights. However, Von Wernich is mentioned in several testimonies collected by the Nunca Más report of the National Commission on Disappeared Persons CONADEP incriminate him. Including a member of the police reports:
